30 years, a blink in time

By Terry Killeavy

As a kid, I could run wild, I had no fear, I was a child
No mobile phone or home PC, meant I met you and you met me
We drank from hosepipes and did not die, we did not steal, we did not lie.
Carol singing with our mates, no locked doors and no locked gates.
We walked to school, we camped all night, we could stay out, it was alright.
But today these treats have changed, and children's lives are rearranged.
No more playing on that bike, you cannot do just what you like.
For fear exists in mum and dad, the world seems darker, really bad.

So thirty years has come to this, a mobile & PC is your abyss.

You can't go out, you can't just play. Those things were for another day.
So when it's said that kids aren't fit, think thirty years, I think that's it.
